This vintage table lamp, nicknamed ´The Whip´ features a clamping foot and was designed by Curt Fischer for Industriewerke Auma in Germany. Fischer was driven by the idea of creating a ´steerable´ light and built on designs from the likes of Christian Dell and Marianne Brandt to create a universally movable workplace light. The metal workshop in Bauhaus in Weimar was lit with Midgard lights and served the Bauhaus students as a model for their designs. This piece has been completely and carefully cleaned and rebuilt and is operated by means of the original rotary switch made from Bakelite. The electrical system has been renewed with three-core wiring, and the lamp is fully functional. The piece attaches to a table or desk by means of a clamping foot, and is served by a black, polyester-coated cable measuring 200 cm in length. The clamp measures 3.3 cm. Damage is limited to minimal wear and slight chipping on the aluminum shade.
